Charm School Crush: Shari Gerstenberger interviews Sophie Leininger
Shari Gerstenberger, owner of Charm School Vintage (Austin, TX), and I met as foreign exchange students in Aix-en-Provence, France back in 2006. Shari and I took many classes together, but the most memorable was pleine-aire painting at the École Marchutz, where we were set loose around the Mont St. Victoire with vintage military issue backpacks filled with oils and thoughts of Cezanne on our mind. Steeped heavily in impressionism and color theory, we studied the hills, mixed their colors, and drank them in, sometimes quite literally…can you say vin rouge?
After briefly falling out of touch in those liminal post-college years, we fell in love all over again when Shari visited the Bay Area during production of this video. It was as though we never skipped a beat, only this time instead of giggling over baguettes and fromage, we delighted in the coincidences of our creative pursuits and growth as entrepreneurs. I was blown away when I saw what Shari was doing at Charm School Vintage; not only does this woman know how to put together a damn outfit, but her photoshoots are NEXT LEVEL. This girl knows her stuff, and I am so lucky to have been the first feature on her blog series, Charm School Crush.
Here’s a link to our interview, and some of my favorite photos of Shari’s over the years. Enjoy and let us know if you agree with my assessment that Shari is one of the most spectacular humans ever on our Facebook page: Facebook.com/magiccarpetyogamats!
